Dearest HoopStars,

It's hard to believe that 2008 is winding down- and what a year it has been! At the begining of the year, Hooprama opened it's very own studio. February birthed Hooping for Hope and at that point a portion of all proceeds from Hooprama started going directly into the HFH program. April arrived and 9 of my students joined me to hula hoop the Music City Half Marathon. And yes, we hooped the entire 13.1 miles to raise awareness for Hooping for Hope!

Summer 2008, Hoop Ruby joined us as our spokes-stick and we had some swag made in the form of shirts, stickers and more. We had a slamming booth at the Tomato Fest in August. Perfomances peppered the year and were topped off with the debut of the Hooprama HoopStars Hoop Troupe. Our classes continued to sell-out all year long and before I knew it, I had some wonderful women teaching for me. One of my teachers even joined me in Washington DC at the Susan G. Komen 60-mile, 3 day walk. Yes, Yvonne was there every step of the way while I hooped 45 miles of it! And my husband (2008 brought me a marriage too!) was there with ACE bandages and many solonpas patches in hand!

I returned to Nashville with a severly busted knee and was forced to slow down... no make that halt. The slowing down provided me with lots of time to think about what is important to me in my life and what I envision for Hooprama in 2009. I envision Hooprama in more areas of town, so we are now holding classes starting January, in Hillsboro Village and in Cool Springs in addition to our Sylvan Park and East Nashville locations. I envision new facets of Hooprama fitness classes, so we are now offering workshops and a great new program called Strength, Stretch & Balance taught by Angela. We do have another really fun program in the works... but can't share until 2009! Oh, and of course, with all the demand, we are finally enrolling our next HoopStar class, Level 4 for those students who are ready to Transform their HoopStar.

At the end of the day my greatest and dearest vision is for Hooprama to be a portal to Hooping for Hope. And I see Hooping for Hope as my dream to help as many survivors of breast cancer that I possibly can. I look forward to the continued development and spirit of this program. In 2009 Hooprama will be extending the spirit nationwide by giving away 50 hoops to breast cancer surviors.

If you were with us in 2008, then you brought your spirit and energy to the hoop and for that the Hooprama crew thanks you. It is because of people like you that we are here and we hope you will join us again in 2009. And don't forget, life is not about how good you get, it's about how good you feel!
